Hidden Levers is assembled from public records and openly licensed datasets. This page names each one and carries the attribution that licence requires.
Derived measures — funding-mix breakdowns, percentile ranks, sector attribution, similarity, and the ideology axes — are computed by us from the sources below. They are ours, not the sources', and they are labeled as derived wherever they appear. See the methodology.
Candidate, committee, and contribution filings, and the itemized transactions behind them. Works of the United States government are not subject to copyright, so no licence condition attaches to their reuse.
Use of individual contributor information from these reports is nevertheless restricted by federal law. That restriction is set out in the terms of service, and it is a statutory conduct rule rather than a licence term.
Hidden Levers is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for the Federal Election Commission, or any other government agency whose records it republishes.

We credit MEDSL anyway. The reason is provenance rather than obligation: a reader checking a margin should be able to see whose returns produced it.

Race pages · sources and as-of datesPeriodic transaction reports filed by members of Congress. This source carries its own attribution text, supplied by the source view alongside each response and rendered with the panel that displays it, so the credit travels with the data rather than depending on this page being kept in step.
Federal law also restricts how these reports may be used (5 U.S.C. § 13107(c)); the restriction is set out in the terms of service.
Attribution text supplied per responseThe site vendors its front-end dependencies rather than loading them from a third-party CDN. The MIT licence requires its notice to accompany "all copies or substantial portions" of the software, so the notice is served from this origin next to the code it covers.
